Process Piece
When we were first presented with the description of this assignment, my first thought was to make a video of myself unloading the dishwasher or cleaning up in some other way. I wanted to depict this process because it is an important practice that I act out several times a week. Unloading the dishwasher and tidying up represents the importance of cleanliness to me. I like to live and create in a clean space. Originally, I thought about creating a time lapse of this process but quickly changed my mind to doing a simple, cropped video. I felt that this approach could be more beneficial to me because it would allow me to practice working with iMovie even more. I was proud of myself for completing the video in about half the time it took me the last time I made a video on iMovie. The creative process was quite simple this time around. I thought this was an interesting assignment and it prompted me to think about processes and creativity. The act of making a creative piece from a daily routine caused me to think about Jan Yager and how she drew from her daily routines to create art as well. Jan Yager took the simple process of walking around her neighbor and transformed it into an artistic pursuit. I don’t really consider emptying the dishwasher an artistic process, but maybe this process could prompt me to create something more. I am interested to discover what artistic pursuits I can create from my daily routines.
